Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology organizes different diabetes awareness walks on different days, especially International diabetes days, in which different peoples from different professions participates. In every walk approximately 4 to 5 thousand peoples participates. Patients and their families are invited in this annual event by department of Diet & Education. Department of diabetics arrange sponsor from different pharmaceutical industries for lucky draw gifts. The menu planning of this annual event is being worked out by the department of diabetics. There are different stalls for free blood glucose checking, Free cholesterol checking free refreshments ,free T-shirts and caps as a souvenir of walk , kids corner and install of dept of D and E. In Diet & Education stall there are so many informative poster and leaflets regarding diabetes education. One day diabetic diet food samples display is also arranged by the dept of diabetics at this stall. GalleryIn commemoration with World Diabetes Day, 6th Diabetes Awarness Walk was held on Sunday, 14th, Dec 2003 at Seaview by BIDE. The main aim of this walk was to emphasize the benefits of walking to the general public. A brisk half an hour walk every day can decrease a person's risk of developing diabetes, regradless of weight. According to the International Diabetes Federation 282 million people around the world live with diabetes and the numbers are increasing every day. Pakistan is also deeply affected by this challenge on a personal, societal and financial level. The International Diabetes Federation estimates that there are 6.7 million people living with diabetes in Pakistan and this number will rise to 12.8 million people by 2035. The Impact of un-controlled diabetes is significant and the response will require the attention and collaboration of multiple stakeholders in society. As part of this effort, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Government of Pakistan hosted the Pakistan Diabetes Leadership Forum on 1-2 March 2014 in partnership with the International Diabetes Federation, World Diabetes Foundation, Diabetic Association of Pakistan, Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology, Pakistan Endocrine Society, Sakina Institute of Diabetes And Endocrine Research and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. The objective of the Pakistan Diabetes Leadership Forum 2014 was to provide a platform where key stakeholders in the area of diabetes and non-communicable diseases can interact through high-level sessions and panel discussions. The participants included international opinion leaders, policy makers, healthcare professionals and partners in public health services as well as national and international media. The forum gathered around 250 high-level participants from Pakistan and other countries, who share similar challenges. The desired outcome is to agree on a set of commitments and actions for improving diabetes care at both the local and national levels – an “Islamabad Call to Commitment and Action”. […]
GalleryBide has exclusively participated in 14th Bawasil camp in Qatar (DOHA) Around 100 children with diabetes from Qatar and MENA region have been participated. This is one of the most admirable activities always dreamed about to be as a constant winter campaign for children with type 1diabetes to offer special services for them through different technical and knowledgeable activities. Many doctors, nurses-nutritionists and social specialists are running this camp so the best services would be offered. The mission of this camp is to create a safe and loving camp for children with diabetes, to address the emotional and physical pain caused by diabetes, and to give them the confidence to reach their full potential.
