Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology (BIDE), IDF Centre of Education & Centre of Excellence in Diabetes care.

Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology (BIDE) has an honour to be the pioneer of Diabetes Education in Pakistan. BIDE offers 11 Months Certificate in Diabetes Management in both online and onsite modes. The certificate is awarded by Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology. This course is unique of its kind across the country.

AIM OF DIPLOMA COURSE

To train professionals, capable of effective delivery of Treatment to the people with diabetes and their families, according to local needs and International standards.

To help people with diabetes in their fight against diabetes by developing better understanding of diabetes and the diabetes-care.

To build the capacity of primary care physicians through structured education in diabetes care.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

Objectives:

To familiarize primary care physicians with a generalized approach to diabetes and its management.
To recognize and manage acute and chronic complications of diabetes with clear understanding of limitations of primary care.
To follow the national guidelines and referral policy.
To enhance the understanding of needs of community and to contribute in preventive strategies.

Course overview

CERTIFICATE COURSE IN DIABETES MANAGEMENT is a 11 months Course. The course consists of two semesters, as follows:

SEMESTER I & II

Each semester will be of five months duration, comprises of two Theory Sessions and two practical training sessions. Each semester will be followed by a period for preparation & examination. The terminal exam comprises of theory examination, viva & OSCE.

The daily schedule will be from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm five days a week.

There will be 5 lectures & 5 workshops per week.

SALIENT FEATURES

In first two sessions the students are expected to submit 10 case histories on completion of prescribed number of modules. The feedback from the consultant will be provided during an interactive session.
A student who has passed 80% of the courses in one semester is eligible to be promoted to the next semester.
The student who has failed to pass 80% courses will be reverting back i.e. repeat the same semester.

A- Eligibility Criteria

The course is open to all medical practitioners (MBBS) registered with PMDC.
Each candidate must have completed one-year House job.
Valid PMDC registration is mandatory.

Course Fees

The fee for the course, commencing in year 2019, will be Rs. 90,000/ per semester. The candidate must pay the full fee before the inception of each semester on prescribed date

Which equipments are required to attend online course?

In case of missed lecture, how student will be able to get that lecture?

Recorded lectures will be available online for registered students.

What are the Rules for attendance?

1- An attendance of 80 percent is compulsory in each semester for a student to be eligible to appear in terminal Examination. 2- Shortage in attendance up to 05 percent only may be condoned by the Director of Institute for acceptable reasons. The Vice Chancellor may condone a further shortage of 10 percent in case of special hardship, but no student whose attendance falls below 60 percent shall appear in the Examination of the Certificate Course. 3- If a student is unable to complete the attendance requirement in any course, he/she shall be required to complete the attendance afresh whenever the course is offered again. He / She will become eligible for appearing in the examination only after he/she has completed its attendance requirement.

How will students be registered in certificate course?

Registration will be done on receiving dully filled admission form and submission of prescribed fee.

How will students be evaluated at final exam?

Final exam consists of two parts:
1. Theory
2. Practical

Will Textbooks be required for my course?

The students are encouraged to acquire knowledge from all reference books.

Who teaches the course?

Course is led by renowned practicing physicians who have vast experience of teaching and practicing in their respective fields.

Can I start my course at any time or are there specific dates for the session?

Only on prescribed dates.

What will happen if I am unable to complete the course I have registered for? Will I get a refund? How long will the enrollment remain valid?

Fee is not refundable.

When would my payment be submitted at last?

The admission is offered through letter of acceptance. Last date of submission of fee will be mentioned in the letter. All the students must submit their fee prior to inception of certificate course. Fee is accepted only in the form of pay order / bank draft in favor of “Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology”.
